Head and Thomaston towers will be out of service while troublesome
equipment is being replaced.
- August 30, 2002 6:00am - Also discovered during the work below
was that a Verizon problem was preventing Northland customers and Lewiston
area customers from using our 500 number. Verizon has been notified and is
working on it. Verizon fixed this at about 9:00am.
- August 30, 2002 5:50-6:50am - Modem servers are being moved
around at the moment. This is affecting 593-9397 and 1500-699-7200. This
is to increase capacity at the new number.
- August 28, 2002 4:00-4:40pm - Our C&W Backbone is still
having trouble, and now our ATT backbone is having trouble as well, and
ATT acknoledges a trouble on their end. We have configured Sprint to be
our backup for all of our network now. Having three different national
backbone providers is saving our gluteous maximus today. Most ISPs have
one or two backbone connections.
- August 28, 2002 3:00-3:30pm - Our C&W Backbone had
internet trouble this afternoon, and due to circuits being moved, not all
the backup paths worked as they should have. About 1/4 of websites were
not reachable for 30 minutes this afternoon while the proper backup link
configuration was setup. Things will be fine now if it happens again.
- August 28, 2002 Some wireless customers using the Owls Head and
Thomaston towers will be out of service for a few minutes while we change
out some cabling in Owls Head.

here.
- August 22, 2002 Noon: 563-6622 had a problem where it would not
take calls for a few minutes. We have reset a modem server and it is fine.
- August 19, 2002 9:00am We are currently having password
authentication problems in Washington and Liberty this morning.
This was repaired at 11am by installing a new UPS. The old UPS was not
working causing some of the equipment to no be running in Washington.
- August 16, 2002 9:00am We will be turning off one of the wireless
access points for about 1/2 and hour in order to replace a defective cable.
This is a follow up procedure from the gear replacement on the 13th of August.
Update: 9:50am. The replacement was a success. All systems are fully functioning again.
- August 14, 2002 11:50am The T1 line to Camden is having
trouble. This affects wireless in downtown Camden. We are working on it.
- August 13, 2002 8:45am Some wireless people accessing the Owls Head
tower have been having trouble yesterday afternoon and over night with
connectivity. We will be replacing some gear on the tower this morning. This
has also affected the Thomaston wireless AP due to it feeding
through the troubled panel at OH.
- August 9, 2002 4:45am-5:20am. dns.midcoast.com was restarted.
This affected many internet activities during this time period. Some
people had trouble dialing sometime after this. This was corrected at
8:00am.
- August 5, 2002 This afternoon some people who use the wireless
repeater at the Thomaston FD have experienced a slowdown. Tomorrow we plan
to be replacing equipment there to correct this.

of equipment. It began having an authentication problem last night.

some wireless customers who use that location may experience a short
outage while cables are being rerouted today.
